Santa Cruz Melds Tuck and Roll, Low and Slow, and Skateboarding

In the 1970s, the Zephyr skate team redefined what it meant to ride a skateboard. Jay Adams?the troubled baby genius of the crew?turned 50 last month. Suffice to say, a good percentage of us grew up with Bones Brigade on VHS and mastered that first ollie on suburban sidewalks before ever piloting a self-propelled vehicle. [...]

Onslow-Cole completes first Golf test

Tom Onslow-Cole had his first proper run in the AmD Milltek Volkswagen Golf that he will race in the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch on Tuesday. Overboost problems ruled the seven-time race winner out of the previous week's official BTCC test at Silverstone, meaning that the 100 laps completed at Brands Hatch were his first opportunity to assess the car. AmD team principal Shaun Hollamby said that the test had gone well and that hopes were high for this weekend's season-opener at the same circuit.

De la Rosa set for final Pirelli run

Pedro de la Rosa has been allowed by McLaren to take part in Pirelli's key private test in Turkey that is scheduled to take place next weekend, AUTOSPORT has learned. Formula 1's new tyre supplier wants to ensure that its products are well-suited to the intense demands of the Istanbul track - as it eyes evaluation of a new hard compound for this year's race plus further developments for 2012. And although de la Rosa has recently signed a reserve driver deal with McLaren, Pirelli has made no secret of the fact that it wanted the Spaniard to run one last time at a private test because he has the most knowledge of its preparations

Ogier leads as disasters hit Ford

Citroen is set for a commanding one-two with Sebastien Ogier and Sebastien Loeb in the Rally of Portugal after a series of dramas for Ford at the end of day two. Mikko Hirvonen had already dropped two minutes with a puncture this morning, but Jari-Matti Latvala remained close behind leader Ogier. A broken driveshaft then slowed Latvala on SS12 Vascao, and it was followed by a puncture on the subsequent Loule stage, which left Latvala over four minutes away from the lead as he finished the loop.

Ogier clinches Portugal victory

Sebastien Ogier made up for his Mexico crash by winning the Rally of Portugal for a second consecutive year. The Frenchman led team-mate Sebastien Loeb in a Citroen one-two, with a variety of problems consigning the Fords of Jari-Matti Latvala and Mikko Hirvonen to third and fourth. There had been nothing to choose between the top four in the first half of the rally, until Hirvonen suffered a puncture on Saturday morning and Loeb lost time running in his dust after the Ford rejoined

Webber baffled by Australian GP pace

Mark Webber says he plans to investigate all aspects of his Australian Grand Prix in a bid to understand why he finished a distant fifth, more than 41 seconds behind race-winner and team-mate Sebastian Vettel. The Australian has been uncharacteristically outpaced by the world champion throughout the weekend and was 0.8s slower than Vettel in qualifying as well, and seemed to be much heavier on the Pirelli tyres than the German

Hispania duo not allowed to race

Vitantonio Liuzzi and Narain Karthikeyan will not be allowed to race in the Australian Grand Prix after the FIA refused a request from HRT to let them race. Neither driver managed to get within 107 per cent of Sebastian Vettel's fastest time from Q1, which meant they did not officially qualify. However, HRT lodged a request with the FIA to be allowed to take part because of 'exceptional circumstances'

Lotus satisfied with race pace

Lotus said it was very satisfied with its race pace in Melbourne, even though it did not achieve its aim of catching the more established midfield teams in the season opener. The team spent the Australian Grand Prix weekend back in the position it had occupied through 2010 - beating Virgin and Hispania, but not quick enough to challenge those ahead. But Lotus technical chief Mike Gascoyne said the signs from Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen's race performance were very encouraging.
