Japan decision due on July 31

A decision on whether this year's Japanese Grand Prix goes ahead will not be made until the end of July, according to MotoGP promoter Dorna. The race was due to be held on April 24, but was postponed to October 2 following the devastating earthquake and tsunami that hit the country earlier this year and the resulting worries over radiation after a leak developed at the Fukushima nuclear powerplant.

Muller wins bizarre GP3 race

Switzerland's Nico Muller became the seventh winner in seven GP3 races at Silverstone on Saturday afternoon after a rain-affected race, which began in the strangest manner. Red Bull: Drivers are evenly-matched

Red Bull Racing's head of car engineering Paul Monaghan believes that the level of competitiveness at the front of the grid is exaggerating the difference between Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. Webber has come under pressure for failing to match Vettel this season, leaving him 77 points adrift of his championship-leading team-mate. But Monaghan believes that there has not been much between the two drivers this year.

From now to the end of the season, drivers compete with other drivers who have had bad weeks or all good weeks, so their points scores could suddenly climb noticeably or hardly change depending on both the current weeks results and the prior results. This is where championships can be lost, or won . . . glory can be gained or disappear in a shower of sparks and flying carbon fibre. For some sim racers the calculations are simple. In the overall Corvette championship, for example, technical [...]

Pedrosa expects tough first race back

Dani Pedrosa hopes he can just steadily improve his pace during the Italian Grand Prix weekend as he makes his return to MotoGP following a six-week injury lay-off. The Honda rider has not competed since a collision with Marco Simoncelli at Le Mans in mid-May left him with a broken collarbone. Complications during the recovery then led to further surgery.

Coming to a College Campus Near You: More Learning, Less Parking

Things are tough all over, and that goes for America’s institutions of higher learning as well. Colleges and universities, once thought to be recession-proof, are being forced to raise tuition and cut back.
East Los Angeles College spent $25 million building this parking structure in 2009. That's $25 million that won't be spent educating students. But [...]

2013 Porsche Cayman Spied Up Close

We now have much closer shots of the next Cayman, and they reveal a more 911-like silhouette and front end. The roof appears flatter than the current car?s, and we can see just how much the stretched wheelbase affects things like the size of the rear window. Less exciting: This prototype appears to have some [...]
