Stoner settled for points at Assen
Casey Stoner said he settled for a finish in the Dutch Grand Prix as soon as he saw that main title rival Jorge Lorenzo had been involved in a collision. Lorenzo could only finish sixth after he was taken down by Marco Simoncelli on the first lap of the Assen race. Stoner ultimately took second, despite a bad start.
Simoncelli desperate for good race
Assen polesitter Marco Simoncelli says he is determined that the Dutch Grand Prix will be the race when he finally turns all his pace into a good result. The Gresini Honda rider has been a frontrunner all year, but despite starting in the top two on the grid at the last four races, he has yet to finish on the podium - largely due to a string of race day crashes.
